Inspired by Lavender-See it tonight:

Boldly painted, brilliant colors of the lavender fields of Provence at Abbaye de Senanque

Lavender Fields at Abbaye de Senanque (There’s a sweet spirit in this place)Size: 12 x 16, Acrylic on board, $250.00 framed

Recently I have become obsessed with some amazing doTerra Essential Oils. One of the “powerhouses” of oils is Lavender. It is good for so many things from helping you sleep, to healing wounds-you name it. Of course Lavender just happens to be amazingly beautiful in it’s herbaceous and natural state-particularly in the south of France. I will be heading to to Provence to see these very fields later this year. So-in anticipation of my trip, and while inhaling, diffusing and even cooking with this amazing oil-I have done a few paintings from a friends photographs from her trip to Provence.

I hope to finish framing this painting today, and have it hanging TONIGHT at Waverly Artist Group Final Friday Open House. Please come by and say hi-We will have live music, food and great art. Heck, Ill even give the buyer of the painting a bottle of Lavender oil!

Tune in again soon for the next Lavender Field painting!

Friday June 28th

I want to share this text from an email from Gary Bradley: It was so wonderful:
In the making of art we must ask ourselves, “What vision of the Good Life” or human flourishing is implicit in our activity?” We ask what sort of persons will we become as we we immerse ourselves in the culture around us?
Questions like these are the basis for the making of art.
Please come and ask yourself “If I am embracing the art displayed how will it shape me and the good life I imagine?
We have lots of new work up and of course we will enjoy wine, food and music.  In addition to the lively and rambunctious drumming circle of Rhythmicity  this month our special guest musician is Stevan Jackson.  You will enjoy his work on Celtic Harp, Guitar and whatever else he brings along. Maybe we can get him to hit a few banjo licks.  His web site is www.http://stevanjackson.com
A very special offer this weekend is a 10% discount coupon at Enrigos Italian restaurant in Waverly Place. Just ask for a coupon when you arrive at our studio.
See you there! Beth

Close up of Two horses eating hay impressionist painting by beth carrington brown

“Buddies”, Framed 5 x 7, 95.00. Original painting by Beth Carrington Brown

Tonight is the “Final Friday” Cary Art Loop! I will be at Waverly Artist Group http://www.waverlyartistsgroup.com/ from 6:00-9:00 celebrating with friends, food, wine and live music as always! If you have not had a chance to view the art from the Equestrian Art shows, there will still be some pieces up for viewing. As my paintings have sold I have tried to add some additonal  ones. “Buddies” is one of those that will be on display.

“Buddies” is a painting of two horses “Buzz” and “Chance” sharing some hay in an Oklahoma pasture. These two guys are really special to their owner, Liz. I wanted to do something special and different for her birthday, so I had the image of the painting turned into a belt buckle -with all kinds of cool stones on it and around it. Liz totally rocks a “Western” look so I knew it would be a winner (She is a real cowgirl after all)!  Thank you to Tonya Boezi  on Etsy for making such a divine creation!

For more information on all the venues and activities taking place on Final Fridays, check out this link: http://caryartloop.org/

Hope to see you tonight!

How much is that painting in the window?

Paintings of Beth Carrington Brown in Window

My paintings in the window of Frame Masters in Cary

It is a neat thing to walk through my local shopping center and see my paintings in a store window-(actually it’s really FUN)! I have 2 of my favorite North Carolina mountain paintings, and three other new paintings as well . I love love love the colors in these paintings!  I am so pleased with how these paintings came together, and really flow well as a group. I did not paint them for each other, but they just love being together!  Another thing that makes this fun is that I am sharing the position of featured artist, with a photographer whose work I  admire. His name is Jimmy Williams. Our work is shown together  in the window of  Frame Master’s in Cary. The frame shop is located in the Harris Teeter Shopping Center across from Waverly Place in Cary. Jimmy and I will be there doing a meet and great/ reception December 15th from 4:00-6:00 pm. I hope you will join us!  If you can’t make it, I encourage you to see Jimmy’s work at www.jimmywilliamsphotography.com.

I hope you will come take a peak in the window!
