During my time in Iceland, I saw many amazing sights, and made many a memory. However, this simple scene of a woman in the alley, enjoying the sunshine with her cat..well, it spoke to me. The light, the shadows and the beautiful simplicity of the moment were striking! Even though it was “summer”, it was still COLD (to me anyway) in Reykjavik! I wanted to pull up a chair next to her in that sunshine, and strike up a conversation. I made a painting of that moment instead.
