Golden Beets 6 x 8

Painting in the winter:  Me plain air paint? Yes! Plein Air painting when it’s 12 degrees? Umm, maybe not this time. I think I will stay inside!

What’s a girl to do? Well I found the answer while browsing the produce section at my local Whole Foods store. I came across a beautiful winter vegetable..the Golden Beet! It’s colors were warm and bright and so beautiful! I did not know what it was, just knew I had to have it for painting! About the same time I saw a Daily Paintworks Challenge: Root and Bulbs. It was meant to be! So, this is my first entry to this challenge. I say first, because I have become completely obsessed with these beautiful beets! I am working on another painting of them…almost done too! I love their color, and amazingly-LOVE the taste too (peel, dice, add EVOO, salt and pepper and roast them-YUM)!

To see this one in person come on down to Waverly Artist Group and Gallery in Waverly Place, Cary. OR you can go online and participate in the auction.  Check it out on my Daily Paintworks site.
